ADK Needs Canoe Routes Chair for Subcommittee

VACANY – CANOE ROUTES SUBCOMMITTEE CHAIR

Due to passing of Betty Lou Bailey, ADK is in need of someone to chair the Canoe Routes Subcommittee of the Conservation Committee. This Subcommittee Chair reports to the Conservation Committee Chair and monitors all issues which affect paddling. This includes monitoring and intervening in hydropower applications to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Betty Lou was a tireless advocate for New York’s rivers, and her dam licensing work helped ensure that sufficient water was released downstream to support river life and water recreation and that canoe access sites were built. Please do not feel that you that you need to have extensive knowledge of these issues. Our Committee and staff will work with you and train you.
