The world of wild edible plants

Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center presents:

Backyard Foraging
"The world of wild edible plants"

It has been said that “Nature is like a banquet. You just have to know
where to look.” This class goes way beyond your average plant walk.
Students in this intensive course will learn the basics of the art of
foraging including how to safely identify the edible species for the
dinner table and how to avoid poisonous look-alikes. Students will assist
the instructor in gathering a handful of delectable goodies from the
landscape and will be taught how to properly prepare them for the dinner
table. By the end of the class, all will have the opportunity to sample
the feast we’ve prepared. If you’re not already obsessed with wild edible
plants...be prepared to become a foraging nut after this workshop!

*No previous knowledge of plants is needed to take this course.

Class size is limited to 10.

Date: Sunday, October 7

Time: 10 am – 3 pm

Dress comfortably and be prepared to get a little messy (we may be pulling cattails from the mud).

Fee: $25; $20 members

Pre-registration is required by calling the Center at 658-2055 or by email at dykenpond@fairpoint.net
